		<description>Dear Irene,

As I continued reading your cabbage roll article a smile had stretched over my entire face and a tear to two rolled down my cheeks.
Memories of my own cabbage roll making days fondly trickled back.
Those were the &quot;cabbage roll days&quot;

My parents, bless their souls, are only in spirit with us now, but memories of our making cabbage roll making days together are as real as if they were yesterday.
I will never forget, dad, he was the best cabbage roller in our area of Winnipeg, his never fell apart, never unravelled, as we sat around the table, chatting, laughing, and rolling away. Mom worked by his side and us, their 6 children took turns learning the trick of the roll, as we ran through the kitchen, every so often making a stop to try rolling one.

Our cabbage rolls were only made of rice, no ground beef and no buckwheat, just rice, boiled in tomato juice! Apparently, back in the old country, where my parents grew up and had 5 of their 6 children, meat was a luxury.
Once in Canada we continued making meatless cabbage rolls.
Fresh dill always topped the cabbage rolls as they cooked, their aroma filled the home.

My mom passed away Nov 23, a few years ago, bless her soul!
Mom and Dad you will always be in our heart!

Thank you for sharing this story !

DIAKUYOU!
